I am honored to welcome you to the official website of the Young Africans Petroleum Association (YAPA). YAPA serves as a link and platform for exchange, where members can connect with industry experts to share their experiences, knowledge, and ideas.

Founded in 2023 and formally established in 2024, YAPA's mission is to support and enhance local content within Africa’s energy, oil and natural gas sectors. We recognize the critical role that youth play in ensuring that the petroleum industry remains resilient, innovative, and on a path toward a more sustainable and inclusive future. YAPA was also created to promote the development and use of local services and products in the oil and natural gas industry, as well as to advance regional infrastructure projects, including LNG projects, pipeline structures, and storage tank farms, etc.

I want to sincerely thank the Association's Board Members, Advisors, and the entire organizational team for their unwavering support, commitment , and hard work. Let us continue to pursue our vision of contributing to Africa’s economic success, driving innovation and improvement in the Energy, Oil and Natural Gas sectors, and helping to solidify Africa’s status as a global Energy Hub.

Young Africans Petroleum Associaton

Young Africans Petroleum Association (YAPA) is a non-profit organisation of African Indigenous Technical Oil and Gas Service association in (up, mid and downstream) sectors of the oil and gas Industry. Initiated by Mr. Jaffar Hamza and established together with inspired post graduate and undergraduate petroleum engineers from Africa (Mr. Abbas Sani Usman, Mr. Ghaith Daihoum, and Mr. Msekela Maduhu) to serve as a link, platform, and a forum for sharing and for the exchange of Ideas, knowledge and expertise among engineers, entrepreneurs, major operators and policymakers. A young motivated group seeking to unite with other colleagues in the petroleum industry, not only aiming for the union aspect of things but also exchange of skills among the associated members.

Formed to bring together African Oil and Gas Producers and Operators, Promoting and Supporting regional infrastructure projects to boost intra-Arican Oil and Natural Gas trade, etc. YAPA aims to maximize local content in the African Energy, Oil and Natural Gas sector.

Mission

To support and promote the development of the oil and natural gas industry in Africa, and the use of resources within and for the local communities, as well as to advance regional infrastructure projects.

Development

Developing a network of professionals and training experts in the oil and gas industry in Africa.

Promotions

Promote the development of the oil and natural gas industry in Africa.

Training

Provide advisory services on training and human capital development policies to the governments and national oil companies.

Contributing

Contributing to consulting the petroleum institutes, by gathering the experts to train them in industrial management etc.

Facilitation

Facilitate capacity building through various forms which include trainings, workshops, virtual webinars such as conversations with Industry captains, and membership forums. Facilitating use of resources within and for the local communities.

Awareness

Ensuring community, local, and foreign suppliers contribute to the long-term socio-economic stability of Africa.
